The fact that minorities became aware of their rights and began to revolt made many of the “people in power” very upset. Authority creating laws, minorities fighting back, and media were all ways that racial profiling influenced the social and political climate during the time it was strongly alive. Laws and protests against the laws brought immediate attention from the media and it did not stop there. By the media only focusing on the big and “sensational” issues causes more drama and issues because everyday issues within communities are being ignored. Instead of the media trying to prevent the issues, it only adds fuel to the fire because not everything in the media is true, and everyone is so busy trying to prove their innocence that everything turns into chaos. Racial profiling was influenced by slavery and all the laws that came with it. During slavery, minorities were oblivious and ignorant to their rights which meant the “one in power” felt as if they could take advantage and discriminate against those who did not know their civil rights. Economy wise, racial profiling influenced economies because it took away money, tore apart businesses, and brought many downfalls. Jobs were taken away from people, homes were lost, and help to communities from the government was also lost.
