In my life, there has been many injustices that has made me want to revolt and push back. There has been times where people see a certain situation occurring and just stand there and do nothing. Witnessing injustices has given me the mind-set to stand up for people around me, myself, and our rights. There are many ways to go about social justice, but over the years, approaches of social justice have changed. Some have approached social justice through violence, non-violence, protests, and marches. Social justice is an action of pride, integrity, and ownership all in one. Whether it be standing up for political rights, education rights, civil rights, equality, or even sexual rights, just to name a few, social justice is a movement created to stand up for what you believe is right. I once saw a quote that read “The biggest enemy against justice is that it is NOT being pursued.” This quote means to me that not standing up and fighting for your justice is the worst thing that you can do to it. Focusing on racial profiling is a big thing to me because I have personally witnessed it, had incidents in my family pertaining to racial profiling, and it is something that I feel needs to be addressed because it is really getting out of hand. After my Fire Project and the research I have found, I one day in the future want to establish and teach a class on racial profiling, making humans aware of the issues occurring around them, and let them know that standing up for themselves and their beliefs is not a wrong choice.
